Atmosphere
Our atmosphere is made up of many layers that are all far more delicate than we realise.
The atmosphere does not end, it simply gets thinner (less dense) as you get further from Earth, so its difficult to answer: "How thick is the Atmosphere?"
The atmosphere extends to over 600 km high, however it's very thin and cold up there!
Most commercial planes fly below 14 km.
The Troposphere (in a pale yellow), is the densest part of our atmosphere and the part that humans impact on the most.
Between 75% and 90% of the mass of the Earth's atmosphere is in the Troposphere and it's about 17 km high.
For this investigation we will concentrate on the Troposphere
